FRDC is a statutory corporation within the portfolio of the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Senator Murray Watt was sworn in as Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry on 1 June 2022.

The Minister's primary objectives are to shape research and development investments for all Rural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs), with a particular emphasis on the following key areas:

  1. Biosecurity
  2. Climate Change and Sustainability
  3. Trade
  4. First Nations Engagement
  5. Workforce Development

These priorities will guide FRDC's efforts to address critical issues in these sectors.
