“Global uncertainty, local challenges” is the theme of ABARES Outlook 2023 conference on 7 – 8 March 2023 in Canberra.

The 2-day conference discusses current events and future trends to provide delegates with a deeper understanding of issues that will shape the agriculture, fisheries, and forestry industries. Registrations are now open, with early bird discounts available until 27 January.

FRDC is proud to be sponsoring the fisheries and aquaculture session and looks forward to a robust discussion on how the sector is adapting to a changing world.

The Australian fisheries and aquaculture sector is strong and continues to grow. In 2020-21 aquaculture GVP increased by 9% to $1.7 billion, helping to boost total fisheries production. The sector continues to adapt in the face of climate change and seizing opportunities to invest and utilise new technologies.

Economic and political instabilities have also caused a re-orientation of global food chains, bringing in both opportunities and challenges for Australian food manufacturers. So how can Australian businesses improve global competitiveness and take advantage of opportunities in new markets?

Take a deep dive into these topics with leading experts in agricultural research, policy, science, and business as they discuss what opportunities lay ahead in driving value and sustainability for the sector.

ABARES Outlook 2023 conference features thought-provoking speakers and chairs across 13 sessions on a range of industry issues including the evolving international trade landscape, preparing for animal disease incursions, and enabling transformation to meet sustainability challenges.
