Today, we’re celebrating International Women’s Day 2022 with an article on how women are helping to shape the future of Australia’s fishing and seafood sector.

Starting today, WISA is running a series of free webinars looking at all things seafood and women. You can register here.

Australian seafood scores well on the international scale of microplastics in fish, with much smaller quantities of microplastics in the guts of Australian marine species compared to fish in many other countries.

Good aquatic animal welfare practices are essential to our stewardship of the resource and two FRDC-funded projects have analysed the current state of play for aquatic animal welfare laws.

Finally, congratulations to Dr Valentin Thépot, winner of the Fishing and Aquaculture Award sponsored by FRDC. We look forward to watching your research and career develop.
