The FRDC’s new R&D Plan commenced on 1 July 2020. The plan seeks to convey a shared vision for the future, the outcomes required to pursue that vision, and the enabling strategies to achieve them. It outlines the key outcome areas in which the FRDC will invest to deliver on the shared vision for fishing and aquaculture in Australia. Priority investment areas to deliver Plan Outcomes will be articulated in FRDC’s Annual Operational Plans.
The FRDC’s 2020-25 R&D Plan will be supported by a companion document, titled Shaping FRDC’s 2020-25 R&D Plan (draft), outlining the development and consultation process that has helped to inform the new plan. Each document can be read independently, with the companion document targeting readers seeking additional contextual and methodological background.
The journey to develop the new R&D Plan took eighteen months and included research, discussions, deep thinking, conflict, resolution, prioritising, awareness raising and many meetings.
