With a total of 683 stores nominated and almost 60,000 votes counted, 2022’s Great Australian Fish and Chips ‘People’s Choice’ award have been announced by Seafood Industry Australia (SIA).
SIA’s Chief Executive Officer Veronica Papacosta released the results this week.
“In every town, across every state and territory, people are always proudly advocating for the fish and chip store they believe ‘is the best’.”
“So, we’ve listened to the people, and crowned the most popular fish and chip shops around the country.” she said.
A winner was announced from each state and territory, with NSW’s Pelican Rocks, located in Greenwell Point, being the store with the most votes ‘cast.’
FRDC established the original Fish and Chip awards in 2017 to shine a light on Australia’s best fish and chippers in each state and territory and to celebrate the country’s seafood and fishing sectors. From 2021, SIA took over and rebranded the awards to the Great Australian Fish and Chip Awards.
