Universities

Most Australian Universities offer either degrees in marine science or related disciplines (e.g. aquaculture), or marine science courses within their science degrees. The specific training available at these institutions is continually changing and developing; therefore it would be most beneficial to the reader to browse particular university websites. Marine Education Society of Australia

The Marine Education Society of Australia website contains several links to organisations and institutions that offer training and career options in marine science. MESA is a national organisation that aims to bring together people interested in the study and enjoyment of coastal and marine environments. 

Australian Marine Sciences Association

The Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) is a national non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting marine science and coordinating discussion and debate of marine issues in Australia. It provides a page of links to additional resources. 

Australian Society for Fish Biology

The Australian Society for Fish Biology (ASFB) promotes research, education and management of fish and fisheries in Australia and provides a forum for the exchange of information.

Government organisations

There are a number of Federal and State and Territory departments that have science career options linked to fisheries, natural resources, parks and wildlife, water management, conservation and environment protection.

Museums

Private Industry

Private industry contributes towards research and development within Australia, a number of companies offer employment opportunities to marine scientists. This is an ever-changing scene. Some relevant industry sectors are listed below:
