The Statutory Funding Agreement is an agreement between the Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia and the FRDC.
The agreement sets the guidelines and principles to ensure the performance and accountability of the FRDC, and to help foster a culture of continuous improvement.
The agreement establishes a framework for the FRDC’s funding guidelines in accordance with the Primary Industries Research and Development Act 1989 and its subsequent amendments. This includes Corporate Governance and the process for periodic independent reviews.

FRDC Evaluation Framework (currently being updated)
Under our Statutory Funding Agreement, the FRDC is required to develop both a Program Framework and Evaluation Framework to guide its reporting of performance to the Department.
Independent Performance Review
The FRDC was required under its 2015-19 Statutory Funding Agreement to undertake a comprehensive Independent Performance Review by 2 December 2018.
The FRDC board agreed to the terms of reference with the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment in September 2017 and Foresthill Consulting was selected to undertake the review. As part of the review a number of face-to-face interviews were conducted, as along with broader stakeholder feedback. The Final Report made 10 recommendations, which FRDC agreed to fully implement as outlined in the FRDC Response and Implementation Plan.
