We celebrate the achievements of the first five years of the National Marine Science Plan 2015-2025, including the first voyage of RSV Nuyina – Australia's Antarctic icebreaker.  

FRDC is now a member of both the Marine Bioproducts CRC, which challenges us to think about what are the new products that we can get from the marine environment, and the Blue Economy CRC.  

We look at the opportunities coming from blue carbon, which is carbon sequestered in marine habitats that will be essential to helping us achieve targets to reduce atmospheric carbon. 

FRDC-funded research by SafeFish, the seafood sector’s food safety technical advisory body, highlights how to ensure maximum safety of short-shelf-life ready-to-eat (SSL-RTE) seafood. 

Congratulations to recent Australian Rural Leadership Foundation graduate Kylie Dunstan and congratulations to Matt Hansen, whose service to recreational fishing and conservation was recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Awards.
